Connecting instruments is the cornerstone of our software solutions. Providing efficient and effective point of care service can only be done by our customers if they are able to connect any instrument quickly and reliably.
Growth in install base and growth in portfolio of supported instruments comes with challenges that started affecting our customers and affiliates:
Increase in wait time for new drivers as the amount of driver requests increased
Keeping all drivers up to date with latest device firmware updates
Getting it right the first time
We aim to enable any point of care coordinator around the globe to connect any instruments they wish to use in their environment quickly and efficiently
Proposal: inifinity POC Scriptless drivers
We could significantly speed up connecting new POC devices by introducing a new category of drivers - scriptless drivers. The scriptless setup of instrument data implies that materials, test definitions, instrument alarms etc would only appear when they are sent and that test names may not be human-readable (e.g. GLU1 instead of Glucose).
During the proof-of-concept a basic data exchange between a device and the application was successfully performed by Thomas and Torsten
We covered:
The registration of the device
The download of observations from the device
The download of events from the device
The upload of operators to the device
The upload of patients to the device
We did not (and don’t expect to be able to) cover any other device type specific topics and directives like
The upload of device settings to the device
The upload of material lots to the device
The goal of this idea is to implement data insertion at runtime to enable scriptless drivers.
