Connection Status Widget seems to behave differently if the hosts/instruments are connected or disconnected depending on the size of the widget itself plus in case of 2x2 widget there is an inconsistency in the workding of the widget itself (attached screenshot)
if the instruments/hosts are all connected: all good, all green, all happy (bottom right corner in the image below)
if the widget has just 1 instrument/host and it is disconnected, the widget 2x2 says 0/1 in RED plus 1 in GREY with a wheel spinning ("connecting status" ??), while in the small 1x1 widget the same is reported a 1/1 RED (upper right corner in the image below): inconsistent but clear enough.
-
if the widget has >1 instruments/hosts then the big hurdle begins:
If I use the widget in the small version (1x1) I can understand that 1 is disconnected: it signals 1/2 in RED so it is clear but, due to the reasonable space limit, I cannot know which one is disconnected. Fair enough.
If I enlarge the widget (2x2) I see 0/2 in RED plus 1 in GREY with a wheel spinning ("connecting status" ??) . Even though we got the explanation on the expected behavior of the widget, the customer reported that it is very confusing.
In conclusion, this Idea aim to ask to consider a better uniformity in the UI, especially a clearer 2x2 CNS widget where it easy to understand how many (and which one) are connected how many (and which one) are disconnected. The only workaround fund was to propose 2x2 widget with each and every host/instrument but you need a whole dashboard for that: not feasible.
From Alberto Biancardi (19.Sep):
I was reviewing your comment in AHA!That would be exactly my understanding of the customer requirement
In size 2x2, the top summary is now aligned with 1x1.
We removed the grey part (x unit is loading). The loading status is shown in the list only.
We are still working out the terminology for "disconnected". OK, I think it make sense but I'll rely on your decision. Imho it is important to keep the same wording as nLO
For me it is clearer w/o the grey part. Question for you: do you want me to share the proposal directly with the end customer user to get their feedback?I haven't done it yet and I will not do it unless you agree.
@Alberto Biancardi Please see the proposal.

Can you please help to:
Review if the proposal makes sense to you?
Does the removal of the grey part (loading) affect the understanding? Will it affect any affiliates and customers' usage of this CNS widget?
Thank you!
